Stem water potential, stomatal conductance and yield in irrigated apple trees

چکیده

Plant-based indicators of water status, such as midday stem potential (Ψstem) and leaf stomatal conductance (gs), are used to optimise irrigation scheduling in horticultural crops because they integrate the effect soil climatic conditions internal physiological constraints. The use these relies on experimentally acquired thresholds that relate value indicator negative effects yield. In five treatments, we monitored yield, fruit size courses Ψstem gs throughout four consecutive growing seasons. We found was more sensitive treatment than gs. Both increased with available content (ASWC) decreased evaporative demands atmosphere (ETC). On a seasonal basis, crop load had stronger impact Ψstem. summary, our study explored environmental plant-based tree status can be useful for establishing apple orchards.

A modified optimal stomatal conductance model under water-stressed condition

Accurate estimation of leaf stomatal conductance (gs) is important in predicting carbon andwater cycles of terrestrial ecosystem. To estimate gs on field-grown soybean and maize underwater-stressed condition accurately, a modified optimal stomatal conductance (OSCM) modelwas established based on the relationship between marginal water cost of carbon gain and soilwater content by introducing a w...

Midday stomatal conductance is more related to stem rather than leaf water status in subtropical deciduous and evergreen broadleaf trees.

Midday depressions in stomatal conductance (g(s) ) and photosynthesis are common in plants. The aim of this study was to understand the hydraulic determinants of midday g(s) , the coordination between leaf and stem hydraulics and whether regulation of midday g(s) differed between deciduous and evergreen broadleaf tree species in a subtropical cloud forest of Southwest (SW) China. We investigat...

Interannual consistency in canopy stomatal conductance control of leaf water potential across seven tree species.

We investigated interannual variability of canopy transpiration per unit ground area (E (C)) and per unit leaf area (E (L)) across seven tree species in northern Wisconsin over two years. These species have previously been shown to be sufficient to upscale stand-level transpiration to the landscape level during one growing season. Our objective was to test whether a simple plant hydraulic model...

Improving Almond Productivity under Deficit Irrigation in Semiarid Zones

Sustainable water use is one of the greatest challenges of irrigated agricultural systems. This study presents the results related to the agronomic and physiological response to the deficit irrigation of almond trees (Prunus dulcis DA Webb Mill cv. Guara) under semiarid Mediterranean conditions in the Guadalquivir river basin (SW Spain). Two deficitirrigation strategies were tested: i) regulate...
